A More Beautiful Journey is transforming Toronto public transit. With work by over 30 Toronto-based musicians, ensembles, and sound artists, this custom augmented reality app offers riders generative, site-specific soundtracks for their commutes.
Through their smartphones, users experience ambient songs, soundscapes, and scores for TTC buses and streetcars. Sounds evolve in response to the shifting environment.
In honour of the centennial anniversary of the Toronto Transit Commission and Toronto’s Year of Public Art, the app will be available for free to TTC riders as of September 1, 2022.
